The earlier the better.
But for summer weddings it is advisable to book in at least 6-9months in advance.
For winter weddings at least 4months in advance, but I will do my best to accommodate all enquiries regardless of timeframes.
Once I've pencilled your wedding date in my diary, I will then look at when's best to arrange a first fitting.
You will still require a final fitting 2-4weeks before your wedding to allow for any weight changes.
Yes.
It is often thought that dresses cannot be altered if they are more than two dress sizes too big/small, but this isn't always the case.
If you have any queries about what is doable, please don't hesitate to contact me.
No, the lace hem is unpicked and stitched back in place to the length required.
Please bring with you the shoes you plan on wearing with your dress, and any accessories you would like to bring along.
Please could bridesmaids bring the underwear they plan on wearing with the dress.
I don't usually recommend brides wear a bra with their dress as the dresses usually have sufficient support, although it is possible to add sturdier cups and boning, if needed. If your preference is to wear a bra that is no problem.
Firstly, I will take a look at the dress and the work required.
It is then likely you'll have 1-2 fittings, along with a final fitting when the dress is complete, to ensure the perfect fit.
Occasionally some brides do require additional fittings, especially if their dress is more than 2 dress sizes too big/too small.
I am available Tuesday-Friday 9am-12.15pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm for collections and fittings, by appointment only.
Bridal appointments are booked out in 30minute slots, if your bridesmaids are joining you for their fitting then I will set aside additional time. I can arrange a separate fitting for bridesmaids should you wish.
I am not available evenings or Sundays.
The cost of altering a wedding dress varies significantly, depending on the work required and the style of dress. A dress with many layers and intricate beadwork will cost more to alter than a dress with no lace or beadwork and a plain hem. A ballpark figure is £100-£420+.
If you'd like an idea on cost then please send me a picture of your dress and a brief description of the alterations likely to be needed. I can then provide you with a much more accurate idea on cost.
Occasionally deposits are requested depending on the work required.
Payment for alterations is due before collection.
Payment is either cash or bank transfer.
For bespoke items payment for materials is requested in advance.
Yes. Parking is available in a side street off the main road.
Yes, although it's not advisable unless necessary, due to sharp work equipment in my studio.
I'm based in Whitby, Ellesmere Port, just near The Whitby High School. I often have brides travel from North Wales, Liverpool, Chester, The Wirral, and further afield.
